The Game Design Challenge by Arludo is calling all students to embark on an exciting journey of creativity and scientific inquiry. In this hackathon, students will have the opportunity to design their own mobile videogame, centered around their most pressing science question. The ultimate reward awaits the team with the most innovative and captivating game idea – three months of mentorship by Arludo’s game designers and scientists, guiding them to bring their game to life!

To participate in this thrilling challenge, teachers can register to receive a comprehensive Teacher Resource Pack. This pack includes integrated curriculum links, lesson plans, and access instructions to four digital worksheets through the Arludo Teacher Dashboard, facilitating a seamless integration of the Game Design Challenge into the classroom.

Step by step, teachers can guide their students through the process. First, help them form teams and refine their game ideas. Then, submit the entries by the deadline at the end of Week 6, Term 3. As the challenge progresses, students can seek guidance and inspiration during the GDC Lunch Break Q&A sessions, where Andrew, the Director of Games, will happily answer their game design questions.

The excitement reaches its peak as ten national finalist teams, along with their parents or carers, will be invited to a grand celebration at UNSW in Sydney. Arludo will cover the expenses for their travel. During this momentous event on 10th October, the finalists will engage in workshops, meeting esteemed scientists and science communicators from Arludo, UNSW, and beyond.

The gala evening will be the culmination of this remarkable journey, as the winning team will be announced in front of an audience comprising educators, scientists, gaming enthusiasts, and more. The national winners will be offered an incredible opportunity to collaborate closely with Arludo’s team of scientists and game developers to build their game, with the goal of completing it by the year’s end.

Each team member will receive ingame credits as a token of appreciation for their efforts and innovation.

Arludo has been inspiring students to become scientists, and now, they are empowering a new generation of game developers through this extraordinary Game Design Challenge. Embrace this incredible opportunity and join Arludo in igniting the passion for science, technology, and creativity in the hearts of young minds.
