Welcome to the F1 in Schools STEM Challenge, a prestigious international student competition that embodies the essence of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
Spanning 51 nations, this remarkable challenge attracts over 17,000 schools each year, with approximately 22,000 students participating in Australia alone. Beyond the impressive numbers, this program impacts even more students by providing access to the same classroom technology employed by participants to design and construct their world-class miniature F1 cars.
Originating in Australia in 2003, the F1 in Schools STEM Challenge is a comprehensive and multidisciplinary experience. While it revolves around car design, its purpose extends far beyond. The allure of car design serves as a powerful catalyst, captivating even the most unfamiliar students and igniting their passion for STEM exploration.
Emulating the dynamics of a Formula One team, student groups engage in a journey through various engineering and manufacturing disciplines: design, analysis, testing, production, and racing. They gain access to cutting-edge technology, including 3D CAD/CAM/CAE engineering design software, mastering skills such as coding, computational fluid dynamics, and finite element analysis.
This program aims to foster a wide range of skills, such as problem-solving, project management, communication, presentation, teamwork, innovation, self-promotion, collaboration, marketing, and entrepreneurialism.
