Welcome to the MLAI Green Battery Hack, an AI hackathon tailored for beginners, dedicated to supporting Australia’s journey towards carbon neutrality. In this hackathon, participants will develop an AI model to manage a simulated battery trading in the electricity spot market.
Renewable energy sources are pivotal to Australia’s quest for carbon neutrality. However, their unpredictable nature poses challenges in maintaining a reliable electricity supply. Energy storage emerges as a solution to this issue. Yet, there’s concern that energy storage entities, driven by profit motives rather than social welfare, could disrupt the electricity market.
The MLAI Green Battery Hack offers a beginner-friendly AI challenge. Participants will engage in managing a virtual battery within the spot market to optimize earnings. Through this simulation, the hackathon aims to explore how individual battery systems could impact or manipulate the Australian electricity market.
