For the third year in a row ANSTO, in partnership with ASTA and DFGN, will be running a National Science Week Hackathon which aligns with this year’s theme: Glass: More than meets the eye.

The hackathon will celebrate the many roles that glass plays in our lives – from phone screens to optical fibres to glassware in labs – plus investigating glass as a part of our sustainable future. In the true spirit of National Science Week, scientific development and innovation will be at the core of the challenge.

The hackathon is open to Australian secondary school students in Years 7-11 interested in STEM, innovation and design.

This year’s competition will use MS TEAMS as a platform for collaboration between students, mentors, experts, and judges.

Each student team will be assigned a Design Thinking Mentor and a STEM Mentor to guide them on their hackathon journey.

Two divisions: Junior (Yr 7-8) and Senior (Yr 9-11)

First Prize: $1000 (and bragging rights)
Second Prize: $500
Applications are now open and close on July 20 2022.
