Global Gamers Challenge

The Global Gamers Challenge, a collaborative effort between Flutter and Global Citizen, is an 8-week contest designed to inspire Flutter developers to create sustainable games. This initiative aligns with the objectives of the United Nations-facilitated Playing for the Planet Alliance, which Google joined in 2023. The challenge encourages the development of games that promote environmental awareness and action, such as reducing energy consumption, minimizing single-use plastics, and encouraging public transportation use.

Participants are tasked with building games using Flutter and Dart, focusing on environmental sustainability. Each entry must include a functional application, a descriptive text, and a one-minute demonstration video on YouTube. Winners of the challenge will enjoy a trip to New York City for workshops with the Flutter team and participate in the Global Citizen Festival 2024. An additional Google Wallet Challenge offers a chance to win up to $30,000 for innovative Google Wallet API integration. This contest not only showcases technical skills in game development but also emphasizes the importance of digital innovation in promoting environmental sustainability.
